What does freedom mean to you? To me, freedom means living without big government. People who are given the ability to be in control of what goes on in their country. For so long we as Americans have had freedom, but recently allowed it to be taken away by a vast majority. This is what the definition of what freedom is via Dictionary.com, I will point out some things the current presidential cabinet is doing to violate even the basic definitions.
Freedom : Independence, liberty refer to an absence of undue restrictions and an opportunity to exercise one's rights and powers. Freedom emphasizes the opportunity given for the exercise of one's rights, powers, desires, or the like: freedom of speech or conscience; freedom of movement. Independence implies not only lack of restrictions but also the ability to stand alone, unsustained by anything else: Independence of thought promotes invention and discovery. Liberty, though most often interchanged with freedom, is also used to imply undue exercise of freedom.
Obama is overstepping his bounds. He is trying to change what the STATES have ruled, if the people want it they want it. How dare he interfere right? Well we're letting him because we're scared to fight against him. Is that what our ancestors taught us to do when they died in the name of freedom? I refuse to think so, but it'd be ignorant of me to keep a blind eye to what's going on. Here's an example of just what he's doing: Obama is planning to implement unrestricted abortion in the USA by signing Freedom of Choice Act: which would nullify any state or federal laws blocking or restricting abortion and invalidate any limitations.
Is this the president we wanted? Someone who will overturn something the people vote for because it violates HIS beliefs?! He is supposed to serve US not himself, not to mention he PROMISED he wouldn't un-do any of the current laws! How can we uphold our most cherished amendment the right of speech, religion if our voices are not heard? He wants to end the rights of those who are against something he is for. Is this the America we've turned into? This is not freedom this is a dictatorship.
Obama has also tried to push for the Fairness Doctrine, which would make radio stations share opposing viewpoints on their show. Even on controversial issues. If people have a certain preference wouldn't it be encouraging to listen to others who share the same views instead of being bashed for them? One would think so. Radio show hosts PAY for their radio shows, they are endorsed by sponsors who also share their cause. Who does Obama think he is trying to tell them " you can't have your own views without considering other views". As if we don't hear that all day every day, granted you should have an open mind but shouldn't we all have one place we can turn to where our views are shared with like minds? Sounds like another attempt at our first amendment to me.
Obama also allowed an attack on conservatives such as myself and our military. We were called "terrorists". Why were we targeted? Obama should protect ALL the rights of the people, even if they don't agree with him and especially if he doesn't agree with them! I'm sick of being called a racist because I don't like Obama, and because I voted for McCain. Why are you using that card? Don't we have a right just like you to stand behind the people who support our beliefs? According to those people I don't, not unless I want to keep the title of a terrorist or a racist, which is a very unjustified title, with no basis other than your opinion based on my value system. I really don't think it's your right to tell me I can't believe in my morals or values because they collide with yours. In fact it's a violation of the first amendment yet again!
It's time for we the people to fight back! I've heard many, many of our troops tell me they don't like Obama. He's made many attacks on those who protect us, and serve him. He's a sick man. It's time for us to bring our country back to its former glory! The days when we were respected, the days people looked at us as a strong nation, not one that's divided. When the government fears the people it is democracy, when the people fear the government that's tyranny. I'm afraid we're starting to turn into a tyranny, the ignorance/choices of others is dictating our actions. Stand by your convictions no matter what! Even if people call you racist or a terrorist, stand by your convictions because you know it's not true. Many of our past icons were called many things but they still stood by their convictions. What makes us so scared now? Have we really given up? I don't think we have, we just need a leader, a REAL leader to wake us up and realize where our country is heading. We can do this, I don't care if people call me a racist or a terrorist by the governments standards I'm NOT afraid of the government or of other people's opinions, nor should you be. LET FREEDOM RETURN TO OUR COUNTRY!!!! To the people, for the people, by the people!
Thank you to the men and women who sacrificed their lives to protect everything we cherish. Your sacrifice will not soon be forgotten by those who wish to uphold the sacrifice you've made. To those who are currently in the military, thank you even more. Be strong! There are people out there who will stand right beside you no matter what.
